Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord He is God.
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
and His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 100, NKJV
So, technically I missed a 24 hour period of posting thanks. But I haven't gone to bed yet, so the day is not over. And besides that, it's still Friday...on the West Coast. I'll get back to following the outline soon, but there are still a few random things I want to give thanks for.
First of all, I'm at my mother's house for Christmas. And I want to thank God that I have such a wonderful Mom. She's the best mother this boy could possibly have had, and I love her very much. She has gone out of her way to always be a blessing to me, to advise and assist and counsel and guide and provide and protect and defend. I know I've always got Mama in my corner and on my side.
I'm thankful for good friends, like the ones who got up at 4 o'clock this morning to take me to the airport. Friends who have offered their home and hospitality to me ever since I first met them. You guys are the greatest, and I truly appreciate ALL the people whom God has placed in my life through the years.
And tonight I had a rich experience at Mom's house. There are friends of theirs staying over for Christmas who have a 5 year old and a 3 month old, both boys. After dinner, the boys and I sat down in the living room to watch a movie together. I held the little guy for nearly 3 hours while he slept, and eventually, the 5 year old ended up next to me on the couch. And between those two precious boys, I felt like I was in heaven. I'm thanking God in advance for the sons He has promised me (and for the wife who is coming into my life, whomever she may be).
