Thankful, Day Eighteen

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good,
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalm 100, NKJV

I recall that I was blessing the Name of the Lord.

Abraham called Him Jehovah Jireh, which means the Lord is my provider. Because when Abraham was obedient to the point of sacrificing His own son to the Lord, the Lord provided a substitute ram. When I look around and see the need in my, I just think, "The Lord will provide!" And He always does.

Hagar called Him El-Roi, which means The God Who Sees. Because when she was down and out, despised, rejected, threatened, and victimized, she found the Lord who sees all things, knows all things, and can do everything about our situation! When I'm feeling particularly deserted and lonely, I just think, "God, you see me." And He always does.

Moses knew Him as I AM, the one Who is able and willing to be whatever we need Him to be whenever we need Him to be that. And it was in that Name that Moses overthrew Pharaoh's hold on the Israelites in Egypt, the Name that parted the waters and defeated their enemies, the Name that brought bread from heaven and water from a rock, the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. Whatever I need from Him, whenever I call out on Him, He is available to do for me what no other power in heaven or earth can do.

Thank you Lord for your wonderful name!
